The dream is over for Ecuador soccer fans hoping that Gustavo Alfaro would help them go on a deep run in the next World Cup. After powering the team to Qatar in 2022 - something not a lot of people expected - the hope was that Alfaro would be back with La Tri.
However, the two sides were unable to reach a deal on a new contract. With that, it has been announced that he won't be back with the team, which is a big blow for the South American side.
Ecuador has a lot of young talent, including Moises Caicedo, Gonzalo Plata, Piero Hincapie and others. Now, though, the search for a new and tactical manager will be the priority for the country.
