Free agent tight end Greg Olsen played almost nine seasons under the leadership of new Redskins head coach Ron Rivera, and he might be looking for more now that his tenure with the Panthers is set to expire.

According to Mark Maske of the Washington Post, Olsen is considering joining Rivera in the nation's capital.

Olsen has been with the Panthers since 2011, but with Carolina in the midst of a rebuild, Olsen will be released in the coming weeks. As a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, Olsen would bring some accomplished veteran leadership to the Redskins new regime, and an already-established relationship with the new head coach.

Olsen will be 35 when the 2020 season begins, so his age could lead to a harder sell for the Redskins front office as they look to get younger. In Rivera's introductory press conference, he emphasized creating strong relationships with his players. Bringing in a player he already has a strong relationship with, would be an obvious start.

Olsen and Rivera achieved a 15-1 record in 2015, and they could set the foundation for success in D.C. if the veteran tight end joins the Redskins.
