Over the course of his career, David Ortiz was the king of clutch hitting in the MLB. He seemed to hit another level in the biggest moments, which often came against the Red Sox' biggest rivals, the New York Yankees. With that in mind, let's identify Big Papi's three greatest career moments against the Bronx Bombers.

3. Big Papi's First Walk Off With the Sox

2003 was David Ortiz's first year with the Red Sox, and on July 26, he came up to pinch hit against Armando Benitez with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. He laced a ball off the Green Monster and drove in Jeremy Giambi to win the game for the Sox. It was the start of a legendary career of clutch moments. This was Ortiz's first of 20 total walk offs in a Boston uniform.

2. Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS

The 2004 ALCS was a masterclass in hitting from David Ortiz. During Boston's historic comeback from a 3-0 series deficit, he hit three home runs and batted .387. The comeback started in Game 4 -- after the Sox battled back and tied it up against Mariano Rivera in the ninth, the game headed to extras. In the 12th, Ortiz stepped up to the plate and belted one into the bullpen, extending the series and prompting Joe Buck's legendary call: "Ortiz into deep right field. Back is Sheffield. We'll see you later tonight!"

1. Game 5 of the 2004 ALCS

Later that night, Game 5 brought another extremely tense affair. After tying the game in the eighth, the Sox once again forced extras at Fenway. This time, the game went 14 innings. After Esteban Loaiza walked Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez, Ortiz once again stepped up with two out. Ortiz once again came through, blooping one into center field and driving in Damon, who kept running all the way to New York,. The Sox once again extended the series, and the rest is history.
