Grading the Seattle Seahawks' Offseason So Far

The Seattle Seahawks needed to keep things running smoothly this offseason if they want to keep pace with the San Francisco 49ers and the rest of the motley crew in the NFC West. So far, John Schneider has failed to hit that big home run Seattle needs.

Having said that, the Seahawks have made a few under the radar, yet solid, moves this offseason, including re-signing defensive tackle Jarran Reed, adding former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen and trading for former Washington Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar.

While Dunbar will be a welcome addition in the secondary, Seattle did have to part ways with a few key contributors from last year's team. Offensive linemen Germain Ifedi and George Fant left for the Bears and Jets, respectively, while defensive tackles Quinton Jefferson and Al Woods skipped town for the Bills and Jaguars.

Perhaps worst of all, star pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney, the best free agent still on the market, is still lurking out there and could sign elsewhere.

Ultimately, the Seahawks have an "incomplete" grade for this offseason, as they still need to figure out a way to re-sign Clowney. If he leaves, moves like re-signing Reed and trading for Dunbar won't be enough to mask such a loss on the defensive line.
