New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres has joined some elite company, and that's pretty tough to do with the most storied franchise in baseball. After Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe was placed on the injured list Thursday, Torres replaced him in the reserves of the AL All-Star roster.

This marks the second time Torres has made the All-Star team, and at just 22 years old, he joins some incredible company of Yankees to have made two All-Star rosters prior to the age of 23.

Any time your name is mentioned in the same breath as Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle, you've done something really impressive.

In less than 1.5 MLB seasons, Torres has compiled 43 home runs, a climbing career average of .282, and an impressive .855 OPS. Those numbers look to be on pace to only improve as the young Torres develops at the plate and in the field.

Prior to Torres' addition to the roster, Yankees fans and managers alike were outraged by the snub.

If Gleyber continues on the path to MLB success that he appears to be on, he could eventually be mentioned in the same breath as Yankees greats. For now, though, let's just enjoy the fact that he rightly made it to Cleveland.
