San Francisco Giants fans hoping for some good news about promising young righty Tyler Beede after he was diagnosed with a strained flexor and sprained UCL may be left bitterly disappointed, though Beede himself isn't packing it in quite yet.

The hurler will get a second opinion on his elbow injury on Monday. There is still a possibility he could go under the knife given the nature of his injury.

So, things are going GREAT for Gabe Kapler in the first season of his reign in San Francisco, aren't they?

Beede, a former first-round pick out of Vanderbilt, struggled to keep the ball in the ballpark during his rookie season, and that left him with an unsightly 5.08 ERA. However, he struck out nearly a batter an inning, and his raw stuff remains highly enticing.

This news comes right after Beede showed off his improved velocity, as he was consistently sitting at 97 miles per hour at Spring Training. One step forward for the Giants, and two big steps back.

Giants fans were already in for a lean year as the team looks to rebuild, but potentially being forced to going through a large chunk of the season without one of their most promising young arms is not what the fans in San Francisco envisioned the 2020 campaign would end up looking like.
