With spring training in full swing, teams are finalizing their rosters to try and get ready for Opening Day. Well, the San Francisco Giants have made a bit of a late splash, agreeing to terms to a new deal with veteran relief pitcher Jose Alvarez.

The left-handed hurler had been receiving interest from other clubs, but has decided the NL West is where he belongs for 2021.

Prior to this deal with San Francisco, Alvarez had spent the past two campaigns with the Philadelphia Phillies. Before that, he spent five seasons with the Los Angeles Angels and his first year in the bigs with the Detroit Tigers.

Last season, Alvarez appeared in eight games and posted a 1.42 ERA for the Phillies. Now, the Giants and manager Gabe Kapler will hope Alvarez can get off to a strong start for the club this season. We'll see how he fares now that he'll be in the American League again.
