Giants GM Dave Gettleman Needs to Be Fired if Daniel Jones Doesn't Make Any Sort of Impact This Year

If you think there's pressure on Daniel Jones right now, imagine what must be going through the mind of Giants' General Manager Dave Gettleman.

As you've all probably seen by now, Eli Manning is out as the team's starting signal caller, with Jones now set to make his first career start this upcoming weekend.

Jones was shockingly taken with the No. 6 pick of this year's NFL Draft, and the Giants are now ready to give him the keys to the offense, arguably much earlier than many expected out there, seeing as the team seemed all set to push forward with Manning.

For Gettleman, he better pray to the Football Gods Jones turns heads and proves to be one of the top young signal callers in the league this year. Because, if the opposite is true, the man should be out of a job at the end of the season.

Why, you ask? Well, Gettleman has made mind-numbing decisions ever since he was hired as GM in 2018. Not only did he let Landon Collins walk in free agency, but he also traded away Odell Beckham Jr. That alone is a fireable offense, especially when the return for OBJ wasn't all that great.

To make matters worse, rather than just cut the Manning era short in East Rutherford, the team absurdly brought him back this year and are now done with him after just two weeks. Eli is headed to the bench. Had Gettleman done the right thing and parted ways with him in the offseason, the Giants would have cleared $23 million in cap space!

Shurmur has made the call, with Gettleman giving him his blessing either way. All eyes will be on Jones the rest of the season, but you better believe Gettleman's seat will be getting warmer and warmer if his new franchise QB doesn't show signs of progression.
