The weekend couldn't have started off any better for Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and his coaching staff. As the team gets ready for a showdown with Arkansas State at Sanford Stadium, an early victory has already arrived.

Ranked a 4-star prospect and the No. 2 athlete in the country by the 247Sports composite for the 2021 class, 6-2, 185-pound David Daniel has racked up a boatload of offers this cycle. On Friday, though, he shut things down and committed to UGA.

Make no mistake about it, this is a monster get for Smart and Co. Daniel, who can player either safety or corner at the next level, had well more than 20 scholarship offers throughout his recruitment. He picked the Bulldogs over additional tenders from Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and many others.

Daniels is no stranger to Athens, having visited campus just last week on an unofficial to watch the Bulldogs take down Murray State 63-17. While a decision wasn't expected this early in the season for Daniel, the trip to UGA clearly won him over and made him realize there was no reason to delay making a commitment.

Daniel becomes the second known verbal pledge for Georgia's 2021 class, as he joins 3-star safety Bralyn Oliver.
