Georgia High Schools Canceling Classes to Prep for Notre Game-UGA is the Most Southern Thing Ever
By Sean Facey

Football is more of a way of life than a game in the South. Folks live vicariously through it. College football is of particular importance for people in states like Georgia, especially when their team is playing as well as they have over the past few years.
So you can expect a Top-10 showdown between the Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish to pretty much be a holiday.
Athens-Clarke County schools in Georgia have a conveniently-scheduled professional learning day, likely so that they can prepare for Georgia's game against Notre Dame.
So, it's a "staff professional learning day." There goes the fun, but part of me thinks it might've been scheduled strategically.

It might not be an outright cancellation of classes, but this game has been on the schedule for some time, making this scheduled day off all the more intriguing. It's no stretch of the imagination to think that the school district's schedule was crafted around this.
And it would be hard to blame them if it were purposefully scheduled this way. A matchup between the Bulldogs and the Fighting Irish is sure to be absolutely electric.

The two teams are ranked No. 3 and No. 7, respectively, heading into their Week 4 battle. Games like this don't come around very often, so it's important to soak it all in when they do.
It may very well be just a convenient scheduling mishap. But considering how important football is to people down South, it probably wasn't some random mistake.
