Geno Smith Responds to MNF Coin Flip Controversy With Tweet That Further Confuses Everyone

The Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers in one of the best Monday Night Football games in recent memory. However, a point of controversy came up during the coin toss right before overtime, as Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith somehow uttered something in between the lines of "heads" and "tails." The officials awarded the Seahawks with the football after coin landed heads-side up.

Now, Smith has revealed what he actually said with a perfect tweet.

Geno has effectively solved this crisis by sitting right on the fence of the debate. In his mind, the Seahawks won, and that's all that really matters. As for everyone else, they're sufficiently confused.

One question that was brought up after the game by many was why Smith was even calling the toss in the first place, as it's rare for backup quarterbacks to be assigned that role.

According to NFL insider Jim Trotter, Smith explained to him that the Seahawks always send out their backup quarterbacks for overtime coin tosses, since the good ol' days of Tavaris Jackson.

As to what he actually called, Smith claimed to have called heads because Russell Wilson called tails before the game, and there's somehow a mathematical sequence that says a coin is less likely to flip on the same side twice in a row.

Either way, the Seahawks were awarded the football at the start of overtime, regardless of what Smith truly called during the coin flip.
