3 Former Tigers You Can Watch in KBO

Baseball fans in America can currently satisfy their viewing needs by watching South Korea's KBO League. ESPN is airing games and some names will sound familiar to fans. There are plenty of former MLB players in KBO and Detroit Tigers fans will be quick to recognize three former faces now playing in South Korea.

3. Chad Bell

Chad Bell is a left-handed pitcher for the Hanwha Eagles. Before he made the move abroad he spent two seasons with the Tigers, making four starts and 31 total appearances. His combined ERA of 7.11 led to him being designated for assignment after three outings in 2018. The southpaw was traded to Detroit in 2016 and just never panned out. However, he did go 11-10 with a 3.50 with the Eagles last season. That was good enough to remain on the team in 2020.

2. Warwick Saupold

Warwick Saupold is an Australian native who signed with the Tigers back in 2012. He made it to the majors in 2016 and proceeded to appear in 82 games from 2016-2018. He finally got the chance to be a starter when he signed with the Hanwha Eagles following the 2018 season. Saupold made 31 starts in 2019 and finished with a 12-11 record and a 3.51 ERA.

Dixon Machado signed with the Lotte Giants and recently made his KBO debut. Before that he was with the Tigers from 2015-2018, appearing in a total of 172 games. The infielder struggled to get playing time and posted a -0.9 WAR over his four seasons. He then spent the 2019 season in the Chicago Cubs organization before making the move and joining the Giants in South Korea.
