After being released by the Carolina Panthers, Josh Norman joined the Washington Redskins with enormous hype. However, he hasn't necessarily lived up to it, according to one former Washington cornerback.

Fred Smoot appeared on the "Redskins Talk Podcast," where he expressed his belief that the team should part ways with Norman, and do so soon.

"You have to ask yourself, 'Where am I expendable?'" said Smoot on the podcast. "I'm going to look at that big cap number that Josh Norman has and that's going to make me want to release him."

Smoot compared the team paying Norman to buying a used car at a lot for a new car price.

Even head coach Jay Gruden expressed that he's been expecting more from Norman, whom he deemed a superstar.

The thing is, if Washington is to part ways with Norman, they don't have a lot of depth at the cornerback position. Releasing him wouldn't help the team, which expects to compete for the NFC East next season.

Regardless of Smoot's comments, there has been no talk of Washington moving on from Norman. The cornerback still has two years remaining on his current deal, and is likely to be a member of the Washington Redskins at the start of the upcoming regular season.
