Former Pro Bowl RB Le'Ron McClain Checks Into Mental Hospital After Firing off Concerning Tweets

When it comes to mental health and the NFL, current and former players are begging the league to be more proactive in helping guys out both during and after their careers. In the case of Le'Ron McClain, he needs that help now more than ever.
The former Chiefs, Ravens and Chargers fullback back fired off a series of concerning tweets on Friday and Saturday, only to delete many of them later on. He did leave a few up, however, including one announcing he's checking himself into a mental hospital.

It goes without saying, but this is certainly a concerning announcement from McClain. In his deleted tweets, McClain said he wants his brain tested for CTE, as he fears he's suffering from it.

He stated he hasn't slept in five days and that his request to receive appropriate help from the NFL was denied.

Man like damn.
Man this is crazy.
McClain is clearly going through serious troubles right now, and realized the best decision he could make was to reach out to mental health professionals. He's asked for fans to keep him in their prayers throughout this process.
It's an unfortunate set of circumstances for the former Alabama back. It's also not the first instance we've seen of a former player asking the NFL for help in regards to brain-related issues only to be denied.
Suffice to say that this problem isn't going to go away. The league needs to step up and do what's right.
