Bill Belichick is always looking for ways to make the New England Patriots better and avoid any sort of rebuild. Losing Tom Brady was a big blow, but fans know Belichick let him walk for a reason.

A new plan is now in place, and there is an open spot on the roster for another quarterback after the release of Cody Kessler. Perhaps...another difference-making quarterback?

Cam Newton is still a free agent, and there have been plenty of rumors involving him and the Patriots, seeing as the rest of the world can't seem to accept a contending team legitimately rolling with Jarrett Stidham. However, former Patriots executive Scott Pioli shot down the possibility of Belichick going with Newton.

Pioli cited the massive difference in personality between Belichick and Newton. The coach is solely focused on the game, while the quarterback likes to have a bit of fun on and off the field. That would lead to a major clash, according to Pioli. And would Belichick really want to spend his golden years in the game reigning in someone who he never developed?

Yet the coach is still a mysterious man, and the former executive noted that Belichick could easily shock us all and sign Newton, despite his thousands of likely misgivings.

The main thing holding this relationship back is a perceived clash of personalities between Belichick and Newton. Pioli knows Belichick well and his prediction carries weight. Having no interest in Newton could mean the Patriots are ready to trade up for a quarterback in this month's NFL Draft. Remember, Belichick always has a plan.
