Ladies and gents, we have a hero amongst us. Former Oregon Ducks football player Keanon Lowe, who is from Oregon and now coaches high school football at Parkrose High School, tackled an armed gunman near the school grounds on Friday.

Coach Lowe's actions saved another potential tragedy from occurring. Reports say that Lowe tackled an "adult male" who was wielding a shot gun. The perpetrator had reportedly entered a classroom when Lowe stopped him. The student was detained and there were no other suspects involved.

Lowe went to Parkrose High School as a student, playing football there before jumping to play Division I football at Oregon. He totaled 891 yards from 68 receptions over 4 seasons as a member of the Ducks, scoring 11 touchdowns throughout his career.

Lowe's heroic actions prevented what could have been another devastating event at an American high school. Thankfully he was willing to risk his own safety to prevent a tragedy.
