A dark piece of Ohio State's sports history has come to light.

A new report found that an Ohio State team doctor, previously accused of criminal activities, sexually abused 177 students during his nearly 20 years spent at the school.

Dr. Richard Strauss, the subject of the investigation, served as the school's team doctor from 1979 to 1997. He committed suicide in 2005.

It was also revealed that upwards of 20 different school officials were aware of Strauss' horrific actions, but did nothing to try and stop him. He was the doctor for over 16 sports.

Those of his victims who have spoken publicly about their experiences said that they were groped and touched inappropriately during physical examinations, both on-campus and at his own off-campus clinic.

Victims also reported that he would ogle players while they were in the locker room and that he would ask intimate questions of them.

Ohio State President Michael Drake expressed "profound regret" for the University's inaction and expressed "sincere apologies" to Strauss' victims.

The school's inaction is just another example of a rampant trend across college sports. Schools turn a blind eye to these problems when the students need their help the most, leaving them to fend for themselves.
