The Atlanta Falcons' disappointing season just got a little worse.

One of the lone bright spots for Atlanta this season has been the emergence of second-year wideout Calvin Ridley, who is separating himself from the pack in terms of WR options next to the great Julio Jones. With the trade of Mohamed Sanu, Ridley is clearly the next best option

Sadly, Ridley announced via Instagram that he'll miss the rest of the season with an abdominal injury.

Ridley was carted off the field, and had been the Falcons leading receiver at the time of his injury with five catches for 76 yards. The Alabama product had 63 receptions for 866 yards and seven scores on the year, already surpassing last season's total with three games to go. It's safe to assume he would've surpassed the 1,000-yard plateau, a good indication of his value to Matt Ryan moving forward.

The Falcons remain one of the most confounding teams in the NFC, with talent on both sides of the football, yet failing to register wins on a consistent basis. Moving into 2020, Ridley will play a major role in getting over the hump, should they choose to take that next step.
