With the start of the NFL preseason so soon, the best way for players to get ready is by participating in their team's training camp. That is, for all players except Ezekiel Elliott.

Instead of taking part in the Cowboys' camp and getting work in with his teammates, Zeke apparently decided that a trip to Mexico made a lot more sense.

While it may look on the surface that Elliott is heading to Cabo San Lucas to get in some last-minute tequila shots, he's said to be going south of the border to train. He and the Cowboys have been in the midst of talks surrounding a contract extension, and the lack of progress on that front has led to his absence from training camp.

Elliott actually has a strange history of training in Cabo. During his infamous 2017 suspension, the 24 year-old running back went there to train away from the team. (Why he chooses to train alone in Mexico as opposed to within far easier travel distance of his team, god only knows.)

Zeke's new deal is certainly on the horizon, but the Cowboys have made it clear that deals for Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper take precedent over locking up their star back.

So, if you were planning on attending the Cowboys' training camp in southern California in hopes of watching Zeke train, you're out of luck. As his extension talks get increasingly protracted, this ongoing holdout just adds to the dicey offseason he's already had.
