Tom Brady is now in his 20th NFL season, and over the course of that miraculous tenure, the 42-year old has taken numerous punishing hits with the New England Patriots. Older quarterbacks like Brady are often praised for their mental toughness, but they don't get enough credit for the physical toughness they display, too.

Former NFL defensive lineman Chris Canty took a recent opportunity to share that he thinks Brady is as tough as they come. He was a guest on the Barstool Sports podcast Surf and Turf and reminisced about a time when he hit Tom Brady with his best shot.

Back when Canty was with the Dallas Cowboys, and the NFL's tackling rules were much more relaxed, he got the opportunity to sack the future Hall of Famer and didn't hold anything back.

"I knew I gave him my best shot," said Cantly. "He got up, he shook his head and he called the huddle."

Canty said that was that moment when Tom Brady earned earned his "utmost respect."

In today's NFL, if somebody were to hit Tom Brady in the same way Canty described his tackle, they would likely be on the receiving end of a hefty fine and/or suspension. The rules have since been altered to protect quarterbacks as much as possible.

Nobody should be questioning the toughness of a guy who is still playing in the NFL in his early forties, and this is just another reason why.
