Eric Thames Removed From Brewers Game Due to Hamstring Injury

The Milwaukee Brewers have been the hottest team in baseball throughout the month of September, and they're riding that heat into the postseason.

On Wednesday night, they clinched the second Wild Card spot with a win over the Cincinnati Reds, and were hoping to make it to October with a clean bill of health.

Unfortunately that won't be the case, as slugger Eric Thames was removed from Thursday's game with what's being described as bilateral hamstring discomfort.

This is not the news Brewers fans were hoping to hear, as Thames has been a valuable role player for the club all season long, and has been on fire of late, churning out three home runs in his past six games.

Milwaukee looked almost out of the Wild Card hunt at the beginning of September, and to make matters worse, their MVP candidate Christian Yelich fractured his kneecap to end his season.

But by some sort of miracle, Milwaukee turned it around and started winning with just enough time to make the postseason. In the month of September, the Brewers are 19-4, and they managed to achieve that record without both their ace in Brandon Woodruff and the reigning NL MVP in Yelich.

Losing Thames obviously isn't ideal, as he was a big part of the team's success this month, but if there's anything the Brew Crew has proven they're capable of, it's rallying when the going gets tough.
