You know the saying "Mother knows best"? Well in this case, Saints CB Eli Apple's mother knows better than any NFL insiders, as she has disputed the claim that her son is being placed on injured reserve following an ankle injury suffered in Sunday's game with the Titans.

Mrs. Apple took to Twitter in order to challenge this claim, while also taking a shot at former Saints QB Bobby Hebert, who stated that he hoped Apple would be headed to IR, amid his struggles.

While I doubt Hebert was rooting for Apple to be injured, his statements may come off as a bit insensitive towards the player himself. Apple's mother likely took offense to these remarks about her son and his injury, prompting this lash-out against Hebert.

As for Apple himself, this injury should be set-back for him professionally, as the team brought in his former Giants teammate Janoris Jenkins to compete with him earlier this week.

While Apple's season may not be over (according to his mom), his place as a starting cornerback for the Saints defense may be usurped by the veteran Jenkins, should he miss significant time.
