Ecuador could be removed from the 2022 World Cup

There's plenty of drama in South America right now, as it's looking like one of the World Cup qualifying teams may have to watch the tournament from home. Yup, we're talking about Ecuador.
Per multiple reports, FIFA is getting ready to announce on Friday its decision as to whether or not Ecuador used an ineligible player for games in qualifiers. That player is Byron Castillo.
FIFA reportedly concluded that Byron Castillo was born in Colombia and are set to mark every game he played in as a 3-0 Ecuador loss.

Chile would therefore gain 5 extra points and an 8-goal swing to move from 7th to 4th, above Peru on goal difference.https://t.co/ul1lZYOOJo
Chile brought up the complaint, as they're trying to sneak their way into the World Cup. We should find out this weekend what FIFA decides, but all signs are pointing to Ecuador being removed from the tournament sooner than later.
