Eagles Sign CB Sojourn Shelton and Waive Former 5th-Round Pick Shelton Gibson
By Mark Powell

Eagles fans have been clamoring for the team to make an addition to their beleaguered secondary for weeks. While this might not exactly be what they had in mind, at the very least the Eagles have added some depth.
Philadelphia has signed CB Sojourn Shelton, a former Wisconsin Badger, who is expected to slide into the special teams unit and some coverage packages.

At Wisconsin, Shelton was first-team All Big Ten in 2016, yet went undrafted in 2017, signing with the Arizona Cardinals and eventually making his way to the Bengals. Still, the Eagles might see a bit of Avonte Maddox in Shelton, as the two are similar in stature (5-9).
By releasing Shelton Gibson, the Eagles are cutting from a position of strength to add to an obvious need. Gibson is a former fifth-round pick out of West Virginia, yet added very little besides some special teams prowess in Philly.
Wow, feel for Shelton Gibson... just couldn’t put it together but always worked is butt off, great guy in the locker room

Gibson's known as a solid locker room presence, and should receive an opportunity elsewhere.
