Eagles Promote Tight End From Practice Squad in Wake of Dallas Goedert's Injury
By Daniel Marcillo

Dallas Goedert was dealing with a calf injury throughout much of the preseason, and it seems that it's still affecting him. Goedert was on the field for warmups of Week 2, but returned to the locker room prior to kickoff and did not participate in the game.
Well, in order to address the need at tight end, Alex Ellis, who was waived by the Eagles a week ago and signed to the practice squad, has now made his way back onto the Eagles active roster.

The Eagles have not provided a firm timetable for Goedert's return to the field, so they're calling upon Ellis to help fill the void. Goedert has just two receptions for 16 yards on the season.
Ellis has bounced around from franchise to franchise over his career. He's spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars before landing on the Eagles. In nine career games, Ellis has three receptions for 11 total yards.
Everyone wanting to wake up to Ramsey to Eagles news when in reality we’ll probably wake up to news about Alex Ellis getting promoted to the active roster.

In order to accommodate the addition of Ellis to the roster, the Eagles have waived cornerback Craig James.
Don't expect Ellis to make a huge impact in the pass attack, where fellow tight end Zach Ertz should still dominate targets, but the 26-year-old is an effective blocker and will put that trait to use in Week 3.
