Eagles President Gives Lamest Excuse Ever for Only Opening up 1 Training Camp Practice to Fans

The Philadelphia Eagles caused an outcry amongst their fan base earlier in the offseason when the organization announced that only ONE training camp practice at the NovaCare Complex would be open to the public.

Since then, the disgruntled devotees have been itching for some sort of explanation, and on Tuesday they finally got some. Well, kind of.

During an appearance on 94WIP, President Don Smolenski offered up the most flimsy of excuses out there.

"What we found was, last year only 2,500 people actually came to both. We can do this in one practice and we can schedule the time,” Smolenski said.

But he wasn't finished.

The Eagles boss also said there will be a $10 fee, with all proceeds going toward the team’s Autism Challenge -- hinting that he's making the charitable gesture in part because it allows the franchise to plan for how many people will show up.

Is this guy serious? How many fans did he want at last year's camp? 10,000? Are 2,500 individuals infatuated with his club not enough to appease him for worthless training camp practices?

This number is astronomically low, especially when you consider that the Raiders, who are franchise featured for HBO's Hard Knocks (so they get a pass), are the only under team with fewer open sessions.

Everybody is aware of just how zealous and sensitive Philly faithful are. It's almost as if Smolenski is going out of his way to antagonize them.
