The Philadelphia Eagles and Alshon Jeffery appeared to be headed for a split this offseason. But the NFL Draft came and went without a trade and Jeffery remains on the roster. His $26 million dead cap figure also explains why he was not released.

The veteran receiver only appeared in 10 games last season in what was a disastrous year for the Eagles receiving corps. Injuries decimated the group and now that Jeffery is staying he will realistically be relied upon to get back to his old ways. Head coach Doug Pederson made it clear his veteran receiver is still expected to be a big part of the offense.

Pederson cites the veteran's leadership in the virtual receiver room this offseason, which is a good sign considering Jeffery has been rumored to be involved in some locker room drama in the past. What better way to repair that image?

The only remaining question with Jeffery is his health. He's still recovering from a foot injury and there's no timetable for his return. However, getting his head in the right place is just as important, so Eagles fans are hoping everything is sorted out by the start of 2020.
