Carson Wentz's 2019 Red Zone Stats Are Actually Spectacular

Anybody else think that it's about time we stop lambasting Carson Wentz after the occasional errant pass and start appreciating his overall brilliance?

To say that the Eagles signal-caller is cashing in when it matters is a colossal understatement. For the season, Wentz has thrown a whopping 19 touchdowns compared to ZERO interceptions when Philly reaches the red zone.

If you're keeping score, those figures equate to a terrific 105.6 passer rating.

The absurdity here lies in the fact that the likes of Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, and DeSean Jackson, among others, have missed significant time this season.

There might not be a gunslinger in the NFL that is better at overcoming injuries to his offensive weapons than Wentz, and that says everything about his effectiveness. To see him operating at this level efficiency in the red zone with Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert serving as his two top passing catching options is a notable achievement.

For the season, Wentz is completing 64.4% of his passes for 3,750 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions. More importantly, he has the Eagles -- who have no business being in contention given their injuries -- with a chance to capture the NFC East title if they beat the New York Giants in Week 17.

He's answered the call and then some. Give the man his due.
