Dwight Howard Says He's Open to Reliving Past Mistakes by Returning to Lakers

It goes without saying that Dwight Howard's days of being a world-beating center are long gone. The 33-year-old vet hasn't made an All-Star team since the 2013-2014 campaign and has failed to find a stable home in the Association upon leaving Orlando in 2011.

Howard lasted just one season with the Wizards and was recently offloaded to the Grizzlies in exchange for CJ Miles and cash considerations. Ideally, Memphis would like to find a trade partner for Dwight. But if they can't pull that off, the organization would likely waive him prior to the start of next season.

And if that does in fact happen, Howard has come out and stated where he would like to end up: the Lakers.

I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I do love L.A.,” said the eight-time All-Star. “Staples Center is going to be rocking this season. When I played there it was rocking every night. The atmosphere is crazy, not just for the Lakers but the Clippers too."

Well...that's interesting.

Does Superman not remember how terribly wrong his one-year stay in LA was seven seasons ago? Lakers Nation surely does.

Of course, the Lakers traded Andrew Bynum and several picks to acquire Howard. And at the time it seemed like a franchise-altering maneuver. However, Dwight and Kobe Bryant did anything but jive and the three-time Defensive Player of the Year left La La Land the following summer.

This reunion is nothing but a pipe dream for The Daily Double.
