When it was announced Drew Brees would undergo surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb, New Orleans Saints fans could do nothing but hang their heads. And their mindset was only depleted when Teddy Bridgewater couldn't develop any sort of rhythm on offense when he replaced Brees in Week 2 against the Rams.

In a surprising turn of events, however, Bridgewater and Co. marched into Seattle and walked away with a convincing victory to leave the Nola faithful holding onto more than just a glimmer of hope.

In more good news concerning the franchise, Brees revealed that he had an "internal brace" infused during his operation to accelerate his recovery. In fact, the 12-time Pro Bowler thinks he can return before the expected six-week timetable.

Brees attempted to stay in the game after Aaron Donald's colossal claw unleashed havoc on his vulnerable throwing hand. Something tells us that if No. 9 could've actually gripped a pigskin, he would've returned to the game.

He's simply as big of a gamer as they come.

When you couple the fact that Bridgewater is admirably holding down the fort with the possibility of Brees returning sooner than originally expected, the Saints might just have a shot at making serious noise in the NFC when all is said and done.
