The mass exodus of former first-round picks from Miami continued on Friday in surprising fashion.

Per Jason Butt of The Athletic, the Dolphins have traded defensive end Charles Harris to the Atlanta Falcons for an undisclosed draft pick. The 25-year-old was the No. 22 overall pick by Miami in 2017.

Harris hasn't lived up to the expectations of his first-round billing. In three seasons, he's appeared in 41 games (just eight starts), across which he's tallied 61 combined tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 23 quarterback hits.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero chimed in and confirmed that the Falcons are sending a seventh-round pick to the Dolphins. That tells you how anxious Miami was to unload the former Missouri star.

Harris is now the second first-rounder that the Dolphins have jettisoned in the last 24 hours. On Thursday, the franchise released Taco Charlton, the No. 28 overall pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2017 Draft.

Miami recently declined the fifth-year option on Harris' rookie contract, and the trade to Atlanta affirms the Dolphins' unfavorable assessment of him after three seasons.

He'll look to capitalize on a fresh start with the Falcons.
