In a year where the home run has completely overtaken the game of baseball, one starting pitcher stands above all the rest.

Left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu of the Los Angeles Dodgers has finished the 2019 MLB season with the league's best qualifying ERA at 2.32.

Now, to be fair, Ryu really cooled off from where he was late this summer, but this is nonetheless admirable considering he out-shined Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler.

Also, he's far from done. This is not like last year, where Jacob deGrom won the Cy Young Award and the Mets were awful. He's postseason bound with the best team in the NL.

They're very close behind the Houston Astros for the best record in baseball, which would give them home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

He'll now look to build upon his career postseason stats. He's 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA overall, though 1-0 with a 2.81 ERA in the NLDS.
