The Los Angeles Dodgers had good reason to not give up No. 2 prospect Dustin May. They are counting on the slender right-hander to chew some innings up at the big league level.

May, who announced his arrival to the baseball world with a strong showcase at the Futures Game, will likely get the call to the majors soon.

May is 6-5 with a 3.38 ERA this season, which has been split between the Double-A Tulsa Drillers and Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers. May has posted a 2.30 ERA in five starts at Triple-A.

With a mid-90s sinker, a plus curveball, nasty cutter, and solid chanegup, May is a polished pitcher that has dominated at every level he's been at. A call-up has been long overdue, but the Dodgers' rotation has made it tough for May to break through and earn his first taste of big league action.

Pittsburgh was insisting on May in a Felipe Vazquez trade, so the Dodgers are taking a serious gamble by banking on May's potential. However, everything we know about May as a pitcher indicates that he'll answer the call.
