Things were all lined up for a fourth piece to prosper in the three-way Mookie Betts blockbuster, but then the Red Sox had to go and drag their feet.

Now, the fun's either been ruined or exacerbated, based on how much you love sloppiness and drama.

After reportedly agreeing to trade Joc Pederson and Ross Stripling to the Angels for Luis Rengifo, spinning off some excess assets after nabbing Betts and Price, the Dodgers now do NOT have a deal.

Guess it wasn't business as usual after the Dodgers-Red Sox portion was finalized on Sunday night, huh?

Per reports, Angels owner Arte Moreno was among those most aggrieved by the unforeseen delays on Boston's end, angered all week by the wait. Though it seemed the Angels would get a slugging outfielder and a piece of much-needed pitching depth, the Dodgers will now likely have to seek other avenues for clearing roster space.

Now, it seems the Dodgers will have to deal with the same rampant awkwardness many feared Boston would face if the Betts-Price deal fell apart in its entirety. Pederson and Stripling will now have to slink back to the LAD, and hopefully don't harbor hard feelings.
