Moving to a different team and immediately performing at a high level is never an easy thing to do in the MLB-- especially when you weren't even a lock to be an everyday starter., After spending seven seasons with the Colorado Rockies, second baseman DJ LeMahieu was signed by the New York Yankees this past offseason and has proven he was worth every penny with an absolutely effervescent run.

The Yankee faithful had reasonably high hopes for the former batting champion and two-time All-Star when he was brought to the Big Apple. But no one could have expected the output we've seen from "David John" this season, and now, he's on his way to his third All-Star game as the American League's starting second baseman.

It's easy to overlook LeMahieu's proficiency this season amidst the Yankees' absurd home run pace. He's without a doubt been New York's most consistent player this season given their mind-numbing spate of injuris, and with his All-Star nod, he's cemented his case for being the single best signing of the MLB offseason.

He's currently the AL's leading hitter with a gorgeous .336 batting average, and has one of the hottest bats in all of baseball as of late. In his last 18 games, LeMahieu has an otherworldly slash line of .392/.442/.620.

As we enter the dog days of summer, DJ could even find himself in the MVP conversation. His torrid pace and efficiency at the plate is second to none.

The New York fanbase couldn't be happier with the production they've gotten out of LeMahieu in his first year with the Yanks. And it may well be that he's only just getting started.
