A division rival could swoop in to sign this former Boston Red Sox utility man.

The Toronto Blue Jays have been showing interest in signing free agent Brock Holt. Another suitor of Holt's were the Cincinnati Reds, but the gadget player remains unsigned as it looks more and more likely that he leaves Boston.

While it is just interest being expressed by Toronto, the possibility of Holt ending up as a Blue Jay is quite interesting. Holt would be a veteran addition to a relatively young lineup, headlined by future stars Bo Bichette, Lourdes Gurriel Jr, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

The gadget player's ability to play any number of positions makes him a valuable asset for any team, which begs the question, why haven't any contenders attempted to sign him yet?

While he may charge a high fee for someone who only had 295 plate appearances in 87 games last season, the results were there. Holt featured a batting average of .297, an on-base percentage of .369 to go with a solid glove in both the infield and outfield. What is there not to love?

With the Red Sox signing Jose Peraza, it looks like Holt has been replaced in Boston. Boston fans just hope they don't have to face their fan favorite an excruciating number of times next season.
