NBA players have to stay in shape to compete with some of the best athletes in the world. It should be no surprise to see some of them pack on a few pounds after retiring.

Dirk Nowitzki is already getting started on that process just months after his retirement. In a recent interview with 105.3 The FAN, Nowitzki revealed that he's been eating ice cream like a daily supplement.

You can't blame Dirk after he gave 21 years to basketball. The future Hall of Famer should be able to enjoy all the sweets and ice cream he pleases.

Besides, it seems that Nowitzki can't do much else right now. He also revealed that the left ankle that has bothered him for his last two seasons is still hindering him

"Can't even play tennis," Nowitzki said, "Pickup basketball? Right now, I don't see it in my future... I think I left it all out there (in the NBA)."

Despite his injury, the Mavericks hero is enjoying his time off. The left ankle didn't stop him from attempting a bicycle kick at a recent charity match.

It's likely we'll see Dirk find a role with the Mavericks in the near future as both he and Mark Cuban have hinted at this. But for now, he should fully take advantage of his free time.
