Didi Gregorius Takes Tuesday Off After Suffering Dehydration and Getting IV Treatment
By Ryan Flores

Just when the New York Yankees look to be on the up and up, they get some weird news regarding one of their players. It was reported on Tuesday that shortstop Didi Gregorius did not play in extended Spring Training on Tuesday due to dehydration after playing five innings on Monday.
Didi Gregorius didn’t play today in extended spring. Boone said that he was dehydrated after playing five innings yesterday and needed an IV. No other physical issues.

Gregorius was so dehydrated that he actually needed an IV. While understandable that Didi could be dehydrated while being the dry Florida heat, it is pretty strange. Maybe he did not want to pay $5 for a bottle of water like fans generally have to.

When Gregorius did play, however, he took a big step in his recovery, as he played the field and went 2-for-4 with a walk. He was able to cleanly field three grounders, but was charged with an error after making an errant throw to first base. That's to be expected, as he's still working his way back from Tommy John surgery.
Didi's dehydration will likely not affect his rehab, and is likely still on track for a mid-June debut. Hopefully he gets into real game action with the Class-A Tampa Tarpons soon, where his rehab assignment will truly begin.
