Denver Radio Personality Says Exit Meeting Between Nolan Arenado and Rockies GM Got 'Heated'

The Nolan Arenado-Rockies drama is not ending anytime soon.

As the team and their franchise icon head in different directions -- both figuratively and literally -- a trade seems inevitable. The Rockies lobbed an eight-year, $260 million contract at Arenado just a year ago, and seem to be waning on such a huge financial commitment the very next offseason.

It's not a rare sight, as the Rockies remain in a small market, but it makes for unnecessary friction that the franchise placed on themselves.

Picking up at around the 39:00 mark, Scott Hastings claims that Arenado's exit meeting with Jeff Bridich got heated, which might explain the franchise's intent to shop one of the best third basemen in all of baseball so quickly after committing to him long-term.

While Hastings is confident in his source, we will say that neither party has confirmed such drama yet.

Should the Rockies deal Arenado, they'd bring back quite a haul and fully commit to a rebuild that, quite frankly, has been a longtime coming. Gaining prospects now for their best player still in his prime will not appease fans, but it's a necessary conflict every small-market team must deal with.
