Democratic Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg Thinks MLB Needs to Get Rid of the DH
By Parker White

One topic of discussion that gets bandied about among baseball fans every year is whether Major League Baseball should have the designated hitter in both leagues. The traditional National League fan wants to keep things the way they are, but fans who want to see more offense and are tired of seeing pitchers bunt want the DH.
Everyone has an opinion on the topic, including Democratic Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, it turns out. And he took a HARD stance this week.

“I feel you ought to have to play both parts of the game,” Buttigieg said when asked a question in Iowa on the DH in Major League Baseball.
You don't hear that point of view very often. Most people either think the DH should be added, or the rules should stay the same. It's not very often you hear someone wanting to pitchers from both leagues hit.
Buttigieg added that he’s going to think on the DH question a little longer.

I agree that there's more to baseball than just offense and scoring runs, but outside of a handful of pitchers, do we really want to see pitchers attempt to bunt and swing the bat? Nope.
Pitchers back in the day could handle the bat and be respectable in the box. Nowadays, it's almost an automatic out and a rally killer.
Give that take some additional thought, Pete. Come to the realization that eliminating the DH isn't happening, as we are closer to the NL adopting it than it not existing at all.
