DeMarcus Lawrence Anecdote About Kellen Moore Proves He's a Perfect Fit as Cowboys' OC
By Jerry Trotta

Could things really have gone better for Kellen Moore in his regular season debut as the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys? Our guess is probably not, as Dak Prescott and Co. posted 494 total yards in a 35-17 thumping of the New York Giants.
The Boise State product made alterations to the offense that had Cowboys buzzing in the offseason, including a profusion of play action, stack releases, and most importantly, an abundance of pre-snap movement.
Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence, a fellow Boise State alum, didn't get the opportunity to play alongside Moore. However, Kellen's legacy was so cemented at the school, that he remained a hot topic of conversation. Lawrence shared a pretty impressive anecdote about Moore's longstanding dedication to his craft.
DeMarcus Lawrence: "When I got to Boise, they were like, 'Kellen (Moore) is so smart, he's going to be a head coach one day. He had a playbook ever since he was 11 years old.' I'm like, 'What the hell are y'all talking about?' They're like, 'Yeah, whole book full of plays.'"

We understand that Moore, given his captivating career on Boise's blue turf, wanted to try and take on the damning challenge of becoming an NFL quarterback, but it's fairly clear that his true talents reside within his knowledge of the game.
The 30-year-old allegedly had a full playbook designed as a middle schooler! That's virtually unheard of in the world of football.
Check out this clip that perfectly outlines Moore's thoughts on the schemes of former team OC Scott Linehan while he served as the Cowboys back-up gunslinger.
Wow I found video of Kellen Moore looking at Scott Linehan’s playbook and being left so distraught that he decided to become a coordinator himself to save the Dallas Cowboys pic.twitter.com/EPj8gcO6OJ
