The UFC has become the latest sports league to finally be shut down from the coronavirus pandemic, after the organization announced today that they would be indefinitely suspending fights. Without any options remaining to put on fights in the U.S., a rumor about Dana White purchasing a private island has resurfaced.

News of possibly purchasing an island for fights was buried from the development that a casino located on native lands would be host of UFC 249. Now with UFC 249 officially cancelled, Dana has revisited the prospect of acquiring a private island, and says the process of setting up "Fight Island" should be completed in about a month.

Through extremely uncertain times, it's rare for a sports commissioner/president to speak in such certainties. This is how White operates though, and he is preaching patience from fight fans eager a return to normalcy at the earliest possible date.

It's also commendable that White is still going to pay those who were scheduled to appear on the card, giving financial security to fighters who would not otherwise have a source of income.

There are still so many questions left unanswered regarding testing the fighters, ensuring safety of the ESPN and UFC employees, travel, and many other issues. White has always been a man who gets things done, so don't be surprised if UFC returns sooner rather than later.
