When will the major payday be coming for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott? It's a question he certainly has on his mind, but so do fans everywhere in the Big D.

While there appears to be a bit of a tango going on between No. 4 and the front office, Stephen Jones' latest interview tells us something could be brewing in the near future.

You hear that, Cowboys fans?! We could have a long-term deal very soon.

Contract talks between the two sides have been ongoing for months, but we've yet to see something even close to being finalized. Things should indeed heat up in the coming weeks, as the deadline to use a franchise or transition tag on a player is March 10.

While Jones is hopeful a resolution can be reached between Prescott and the Cowboys, Dallas will undoubtedly use a tag on the quarterback if they don't reach an agreement. However, the tag can sour the relationship, so the team should avoid that as best they can.

“We want to get this done,” Jones said this week. “Things are fixing to heat up. We want to put every foot forward and try to grind this out and get a deal done.”

After going through all the contract drama with Ezekiell Elliott last year, another preseason holdout is the last thing the Cowboys want to happen with Prescott. It's time to open up the checkbook and make the QB happy.
