Players betting on themselves is part of the contract game when it comes to sports. Letting the talent do the work is a sure-fire way to secure the best deal possible.

With that being said, the recent rumored news on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott proves that he might actually be insane.

According to Michael Lombardi, the 26-year-old quarterback turned down an offer with an average annual value upwards of $30 million, which seems to be more than enough for what he brings to the table.

If it's true, then Prescott has totally gone off the deep end. Sure, he's an above-average quarterback, but barring a miracle 5,000-yard season this year, he'll be hard-pressed to find a team willing to give him $30 million a year.

In his three years in the NFL, Prescott has yet to eclipse the 4,000-yard mark in a single season. His 3,885 yards, 22 passing touchdowns and 96.9 passer rating ranked 15th, 16th and 14th respectively in the NFL this past season.

Statistically, he's in the company of quarterbacks such as Cam Newton and Mitchell Trubisky. He's nowhere close to the likes of Russell Wilson, a guy who has a behemoth contract that Prescott seems to think he deserves.

Former NFL stars even recognize that he's nothing too special; retired Jets cornerback Antonio Comartie called him "average."

And none of this even mentions the fact that when Ezekiel Elliott is held out of play, Prescott seems to take a massive step backwards. There's little evidence, if any at all, to suggest that he's worthy of such a lucrative deal.

If he really turned down a deal with more than $30 million per year, then he's in need of a self-reevaluation.
