Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have established themselves as arguably the best college football program in the country. After polishing off an undefeated season with a championship win over Alabama behind freshman upstart Trevor Lawrence, they have nothing left to prove.

But, they owe a debt of gratitude to former starting quarterback Kelly Bryant for his time with the program. Swinney's choice to not give him a ring is childish, petty and downright disrespectful.

Sure, the two parties parted ways on sour terms. Kelly, a senior, felt as though he was disrespected in being pushed out of the starting role for a true freshman after sitting for two years behind Deshaun Watson. He was understandably upset, and he made his feelings known. But, that doesn't mean the man doesn't deserve a ring.

He started every game for Clemson in 2017 and the first four in 2018, amassing a 16-2 record, 3,263 yards and 18 touchdowns. Kelly was under center for four of their wins last year. He gave his heart and soul to the program. The least Swinney could do is show him the respect of a ring.

It's silly that Swinney has taken this specific path to exercise his childish revenge on a quarterback who did everything that was asked of him only to be cast aside when he was no longer useful.

This entire situation is a stain on Swinney's reputation. It shows that while he is a great coach, he's also a man who holds foolish and disappointing grudges.

Bryant was on the team. He got the ball rolling for the Tigers last year. He deserves to be treated with some respect, and he deserves a ring for his efforts.
