Cubs Place Derek Holland on IL With Wrist Injury and Recall David Bote
By Sam Dunn

Derek Holland may have the best cleats in the MLB during 2019's iteration of Players' Weekend, but he's going to have to hang them up a bit early. After suffering a wrist injury Wednesday against his former San Francisco Giants, the Cubs southpaw has been placed on the 10-day injured list.

In a corresponding move, David Bote was recalled to the club from Triple-A Iowa.
Holland came to the North Side from San Francisco just ahead of the trade deadline. He's put up a 4.66 ERA in a dozen relief appearances since joining the Cubs, an improvement over the 5.90 mark he sported in the Bay Area.
