The reunion between Jake Arrieta and the Chicago Cubs simply didn't go as planned. The veteran pitcher has struggled throughout the year and it felt like only a matter of time before the team decided to release him.
Well, that came on Thursday. Indeed, Chicago has parted ways with the hard-throwing right-handed pitcher.
The writing was on the wall here for Arrieta. He's been downright awful this season and the Cubs are looking toward the future. That was made clear with them trading Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Javy Baez.
Now, we'll have to wait and see which team Arrieta lands with next. It wouldn't be a surprise if he finds a new organization soon.
