When the Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016, fans of the North Side's baseball franchise left their mark on history in any way possible. Throughout the World Series, fans took to the brick walls of Wrigley Field to leave messages for the players.

The Cubs hadn't won a title in over 100 years, and their fans were rallying around the team. One fan took the fun a little too far, though, and proved once again why we can't have nice things.

A special message to LeBron James stayed up despite the team's management knowing it existed. LeBron's avid support for his hometown Cleveland Indians might've rubbed some fans the wrong way, but aiming expletives his way is an extreme.

Yet, maybe we shouldn't be surprised given how some Cubs fans reacted after winning the World Series.

Years have passed since the incident, and the chalk has long faded away. The Cubs defeated the Indians, and won the World Series. Somehow though, the message to LeBron still stands at Wrigley. For a special fan event called the "2020 Ticket Premiere" the Cubs welcomed fans into the stadium. They were greeted with a large print out photo of the wall, which still held the vulgar LeBron comment.

Cubs management was fully aware of its existence and still chose to leave it in the print out. The phrase could've easily been edited out, yet the Cubs left it in. That's just not classy at all.

As tight as that series was, and as deep as the rivalry may run, there's just no place for something so blatantly mean-spirited and crass.
