Cubs' Joe Maddon and Pirates' Clint Hurdle Need to Give us a Show on Sunday Night Baseball

I would never root for a player to get injured in any sport for any reason, but on Sunday Night Baseball in Williamsport, Pa. where the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates will play the Little League Classic, a Pirates pitcher might need to continue the trend of coming up and in to give us some fireworks.

We know that Cubs manager Joe Maddon can get hot and lose his mind. He certainly did back on July 4 when Javy Baez received a brushback pitch against the Pirates, leading to Maddon getting ejected and trying to get to Clint Hurdle. And that's exactly the kind of thing we tune into national TV games in prime time to see.

What better place to do all that again than in Williamsport, home of the Little League World Series?

Not only would a Maddon-Hurdle altercation be the kind of smashing entertainment ratings spikes are built on, but a back-and-forth affair between two NL Central rivals would put a cherry on top, especially with the Cubs still vying for a postseason berth.

Even though they haven't been postseason-relevant for several years now, Pittsburgh is one of the more hated teams in the game because of instance on pitching inside in an occasionally reckless manner. For one night, the Cubs will be the hero and there could be an entertaining good vs. evil going on in Williamsport.

Please, let this happen.
