Cubs Had to Get Picked up by White Sox Plane in St. Louis at 1:30 a.m. After Loss to Cardinals
By Parker White

The Chicago Cubs were shut out 8-0 at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, and it got even worse from there.
Their plane had an issue and wasn't able to fly them back to Chicago. In fact, the White Sox sent their plane to pick up the Cubs and it didn't arrive till 1:30 a.m.
The Cubs got in even later from St. Louis due to issue with their plane. In fact, the White Sox plane had to be flown down there to get them. Arrived around 1:30 am.

That's not a good way to start your Friday when you have a 2:20 p.m. ET game at Wrigley against the division-rival Brewers. It's not an ideal setup for a team that's one game back in the division and has lost seven of its 10 games.
How about a "Major League" reference to make light of the situation?

Unfortunately for the Cubs, this pretty much summed up their terrible road trip. They went 3-6 against the Cardinals, Brewers and Giants and relinquished their division lead while losing the series in St. Louis.
It's only fitting that their plane couldn't fly them back after the final game.
